"SLIGHTED LESSONS ,SERIOUS EXPERIENCES"

I never understood the concept of “taking for granted” because we come into this life with no real guarantees.

The people who come into our lives can choose to walk away any minute they decide to ,they can stop doing the things we have gotten so accustomed to them doing ,yet we often play with this idea fooling ourselves into reckless handling of these individuals.

Have you ever noticed that growing up most teens would share the sentiment that; “ oh mommy and daddy talk too much”,or things like “ they are always nagging me”.It’s easy to say that these types of behaviors are normal teen behavior and not taking parents for granted but look at it this way ,when we leave our parents houses and step into the real world isn’t it funny how the suppose nagging is the knowledge that hold some of us together. Its in the moments when we no longer have the security that “home provided that we wish for it the most. You see we take for granted the things that are done to protect us and done so we can learn from them because at the time we dont think they serve purpose often times because of who is delivering the message it is passed off as a nuisance.

When I was younger I never really ”fit” in anywhere per say and I wasn’t always okay with that so I would bend certain things about myself so that I could fit into the groups around me. After awhile blending in by strangulation of my true self got tiring I stopped and after I stopped pretending I began to find my real Friends. Having not always had the privilege to know real friendship I am always thankful for the few individuals that truly provide it .These people I call my “real friends” know me for me and they stick around even when my behavior is unfavorable. Many people like me have friends that are true but very few appreciate them. Though we know we live in a world where it is easier to find shallowness than deep fulfillment in many areas of our lives it is easy to look at the individuals that always come running when we need them and continue to “take and take “ by always saying “he or she understands” so everything is fine no matter what I do“. It is so easy to fall into this trap to take our friends for granted since they care for us and this “care” makes us comfortable ,because it is human nature to be selfish but at some point we have to come to realize the truth. The truth is our real friends are there because they love us but it is never okay to take that love and stretch the privileges it affords us ,but it is upon us to respect the place and position these individuals give us enough to be more considerate.

Then there are individuals who think because someone says they “love them “ or “until death do us part “ that they simply get to stop doing the things they did before that got them the person they have in their life. Its simple Time doesnt make a pledge or promise made to love and cherish any less void.Individuals tend to get so comfortable in the security “I love you “ provides in certain relationships that they don’t realize they have started to cater to what they want so much so that regard for how their actions affect their loved ones is not given.

There is a song that says” don’t scatter roses after I’m gone ,give them to me while I’ll carry on”,the sentiment of the song rings true it is so much better to show our appreciation for the people in our lives while they can see it and accept it than to cry about spilt milk when they Are no longer here.
